Overview
The School of Medicine provides a ten-week summer research experience from June 2 to August 8, 2008 to incoming 1st-year and rising 2nd-year medical students which includes a stipend of $3,000 - $3,900. The goal of the SRSP is to provide medical students who are interested in research the opportunity to participate in a research project and expose them to the research environment of an academic medical center and the activities of academic physicians and scientists.
Students who are interested in participating in the SRSP must submit the online registration form by Monday, March 10, 2008.
In addition to the summer research, students participating in the SRSP will take the “Bench to Bedside” course (PHCI-501) for one-hour of pass/fail credit. This is typically given from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoons during the ten-week program. This course will count towards elective credit in the 2nd-year.
Students must present the results of their research at Student Research Day as part of the week-long Research!Louisville event in the Fall. This is scheduled for the morning of Tuesday, October 21.
