The primary operation of the Center is producing chemical mass spectra for user samples. Support is also offered for experimental design, selection of appropriate instrumentation, sample preparation, data interpretation, and appropriate informatics, as needed. Samples can be received in a range of states of preparation for analysis and clients have options to complete preparation at the Center and/or pay for preparation.

Inquiries

This link provides a listing of the technologies available in the UofL Center for Regulatory and Environmental Analytical Metabolomics. These services provide an example of analyses currently produced routinely in the Mass Spectrometry Facility. New applications are steadily coming on-line and user collaboration in methods innovations are highly encouraged. If you don’t see your application, please enquire.

Instrument Descriptions

The instrumentation in the CREAM core consists of a MS-filtered Fourier-transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance MS (MS-FTICR-MS) with ESI, APPI/APCI, AP-MALDI (Thermo Finnigan LTQ-FTMS), a nanospray autosampler (Advion TriVersa Nanomate), and a micro/nanoflow LC (Dionex Ultimate 3000), laser-ablation (New Wave UP-213) and micro/nanoflow LC interfaced to an inductively-coupled plasma MS (LA/LC-ICPMS, Thermo Finnigan X series II ICPMS), a liquid introduction isotope ratio MS (LC-IRMS, Thermo Delta V Isolink), and a GC-ion-trap tandem MS system (Trace GC with Thermo PolarisQ MS).
