Research and Laboratory Safety

Research and Laboratory Safety Program

The University of Louisville’s Research and Laboratory Safety Program partners with faculty, staff, and students to support safe, compliant, and resilient research and teaching laboratories. Our approach is grounded in protecting people, strengthening programs, and enhancing performance—so safety enables discovery, innovation, and student success rather than slowing it down.

We provide integrated oversight, practical guidance, and responsive services that help laboratories manage risk, meet regulatory expectations, and operate efficiently across the full research lifecycle. Through collaboration, consistency, and continuous improvement, we foster a strong culture of safety that supports research excellence, stewardship of resources, and the long-term success of the university’s academic mission.
