Our Purpose

Everyone Home Safely

The Department of Environmental Health & Safety (DEHS) supports UofL’s teaching, research and service missions by helping to ensure that everyone returns home safely after working with hazardous chemicals, biological agents, radioactive materials, physical hazards or dangerous equipment across our laboratories, clinics, shops, studios, vivarium, athletic facilities and other work environments. We are committed to getting everyone home safely through continuous improvement of a shared culture of safety by risk-informed decision making and close collaboration with our campus colleagues.

Connect with DEHS

Connect with our department by submitting a question or reporting a concern using CampusOptics™. This platform ensures requests are documented and addressed promptly.

Report an Emergency

Do not contact a DEHS staff member to report an emergency such as fire or chemical spill. All emergencies should be reported to the Department of Public Safety at 502-852-6111.
